Wealth Management iPad App
Having worked on previous projects and pitches with Sapient, I was hired to join Barclays design team to work on a new iPad app concept. The purpose of the app was to support Barclays’ wealthier clients in the management of their investment portfolios. This meant the target demographic was 50-60+, and we had to consider that they may be less technologically minded, meaning that the design had to be very intuitive, with usability at the forefront of our priorities.
One of the key challenges with this project was considering how to present a large amount of complicated data in a way that was easy to understand and remained engaging. We began with an extensive discovery phase, undertaking research into competitors and best practices in order to effectively display data in a variety of presentation methods, including graphs, tables and grids. The content and layout of the app were key here, and we were able to strip back the design so that the information could be understood without any unnecessary distractions. As a result of our research phase, we were able to produce an intuitive design which was straightforward for users to navigate, find the information they needed and execute specific tasks without complication.
